Bad Girls Can Be So Good |

As a companion piece to Jerry Blake's Favorite Assistant Poll, how about rating your all-time favorite gunmoll? Femme Fatales were a staple of film noir as the shady ladies that lured men of unstable morals to make the wrong choices that ultimately led to their destruction. While serial heroes were made of sterner stuff and resisted the charms of these women, serial villains were just as suseptible as most of us.

For a good female henchwoman/villainess, try Jungle Raiders. Veda Ann Borg plays Cora Belle, who although working for the head villain is more competent by far. She plays a really good tough cookie always looking out for herself.
I almost voted for her over Aura, but there's just something about Priscilla that put her over the top - maybe it was just the lust in her eyes whenever she looked at Flash, I don't know. "You're paying us to find the buried treasure of Captain Kidd--not set forest fires"

I voted for Princess Aura over Rita Parker mainly because Aura was second only to her father, Ming, as the horniest character in serials. It would be nice of my five sons to bring her home to ol' Pa Stark to help me replace one of them next time Dick Tracy kills one again.

I voted for Adrian Booth/Lorna Grey, but I think that Eve Whitney as Nitra in RADAR PATROL VS. SPY KING requires for than just a casual mention.

Hey, 39
There's something about Priscella Lawson "that put her over the top," you say?? (Was she ever under contract to Maidenform)? |

For some reason my browser seems to have by passed the actual voting section and gone right to showing the voting results. I'll have to put my vote in later. But when I do my choice will be other, for my favorite bad girl assistant to the villain is Gloria Franklin as Fu Manchu's fiendish daughter Fah Lo Suee. They just don't come any more ruthless, or slinkily sexy than that.

Louise Currie is a good girl, Chapter 11. What were you thinking?

How about Rose Hobart as Fraulein Van Teufel in "The Adventures of Smilin' Jack"? She is in reality a calm, cold-blooded Nazi killer while posing as a friendly newspaper reporter who is ostensibly trying to help the good guys in their mission to aid the U.S. war effort.
This is one of the best-conceived, best-written and best-acted roles, male or female, that I've ever seen in a serial. |

Mary Moore | #10 | ||

I think Mary Moore is pretty good in the Purple Monster Strikes (D-Day from Mars). I think the costume helps quite a bit. And how many
space women villianesses were there?

These come immediately to mind:
Princess Aura from the Flash Gordon series There was Rulu from the planet Mercury in the serial Mysterious Island Sonja in Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe Queen Tika in the Phantom Empire was more from innerspace than outerspace |

To be a bad girl I think she would have to remain bad right to the end of the picture. Princess Aura turns good by the end of Flash Gordon and is his staunch ally by Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe. Vultura would be my pick as bad girl character. She's bad right up to the end - literally. Adrian Booth the actress was both good and bad, depending on the serial. Carol Forman is up for my vote as an actress because she always played the bad girl. |

Because I can't remember any particular great ones now, I'll go w Leo Gorcey's wife in CPT Midnight, far cuter in comparison to Midnight's
