Hi,
Im a new member & customer. I recently purchased King of the Mounties on DVD.
I suggest that Serial Squadron tekkies produce Red Barry (193
starring Buster Crabbe (see below) in good visual quality on DVD. Since Red Barry is not a popular cult attraction, IMO the copyright owner should give permission.
IMO this serial reflects an opinion in the USA in the 1930s that the Soviet Union, a Communist dictatorship, would join various other dictatorships, and wage conflict vs. western democracies including the USA. In Red Barry, a Russian ballerina joins a Chinese nationalist tang (mob) leader to steal Asian bonds connected to USA interests.
Actually
In the 1930s, Stalin armed Chang Kai-Sheks nationalists to help prevent Mao-se Tung from producing a Communist China which would compete with the Soviets for control of the world Communist movement. Also, in 1939, Stalin formed a brief alliance with Hitler in carving up Poland.
Regards.
Carl

into action when $2,000,000 worth of bonds is stolen from an unnamed Asian
country. Among the villains involved are prima ballerina Natacha (Edna
Sedgewick) and criminal mastermind Quong Lee (Frank Lackteen). Forming an
uneasy alliance with criminologist Vane (Hugh Huntley), Barry pursues the
miscreants up hill and down alley. Also on Barry's side is intrepid girl
reporter Mississippi (Frances Robinson), who makes Lois Lane seem shy and
retiring. Seldom pausing for breath, Red Barry remains one of the most
memorable of the Universal chapter plays. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide Full
