I realize that this thread may be self-defeating by its very nature but one category of serials we haven't discussed yet here are serials which have
vanished virtually entirely without any film footage or even still images circulating amongst fans or collectors.
Of course there would be movie magazines out there with articles about some of them, and possibly some newspaper ads here and there, but here is a list of some of the serials that do not appear to have had novelizations or have survived in any other fashion, and from which even many (if any) stills seem to exist. If the serial still has a chapter or two in existence, had a novelization, has a poster or still or even related sheet music still known to exist, I've taken it off the list. I have few or no images related to the titles below in the Squadron archives (though I haven't gone thru every silent serial book here to double check for still reproductions). Anyone seen hide or hair of any of them since they were melted down for their silver content? Can anyone post evidence of their existence? (You know you all have free photo galleries with your board membership, right? Click on your posting name to get to them -- you can post photos there and very easily link them to these boards).
If we can eliminate some by finding images from them, eventually we may come up with a list of serials for which no images exist whatsoever -- and they will by default win the title of RAREST LOST SERIALS OF ALL TIME.
By the way, anyone ever hear anything about the final fate of Secret Service Sanders?
And how dare they melt down THE LURKING PERIL, anyway!
