I would rate the greatest Republic Serial of all time as
Spy Smasher with Daredeveils of the Red Circle and Captain Marvel in a tie coming in a close second.

I beleive that it's fair to judge and rate serials only if you view them the way that they were intended to be viewed. We never watch more than one chapter a day of any serial and this seems to make all serials better.

Quote: Not to be too picky, but if you are going to view a serial the way it was intended, you should view one chapter per week -- no more, no less. This is the purist approach. The extreme purist will skip the relevant chapter if for any reason he cannot make the once weekly date. (I usually go with one chapter per day. myself. That make me only moderately purist The Ol' Sarge |

The Emperor is on board with Sgt S ...never more than one chapter per day...absolute maximum.
A complete serial in one setting...heresy!! |

It does spoil 'em to run all the chapters together in your head.
Best Republic? PERILS OF NYOKA, no contest. Best cast, best production, best ape, best catfight. |

I've seen them all but IMO no serial can equal the excitement of Spy Smasher- non-stop action from start to finish.

I've seen them all but IMO no serial can equal the excitement of Spy Smasher- non-stop action from start to finish.SPY SMASHER is tops in almost everyone's book, but many of us who had the privilege of seeing DAREDEVILS OF THE WEST this year at SerialFest (Thanks again Doc.) thought it was every bit as great. They had more energy and adrenaline than any other serial ever made. Other Republic serials were better in other ways, for example DRUMS OF FU MANCHHU is unmatched in production values, direction, mood, music, and story, some chapters of DAREDEVILS OF THE RED CIRCLE for location work, and THE LONE RANGER for being so stylish. We love them all. Remember, you can always trust Honest Pa Stark |

Ok. Fighting Devil Dogs is also great. Even though that Lightning is a cheap knockoff of Darth Vader from Star Wars

TIGRRR,
It seems to me that your statement is backwards, Darth Vader came to life in STAR WARS some 39 years later than THE FIGHTING DEVIL DOGS |

Not so Lightning. Vader was from "a long time ago in a galaxy far far away" per the Star Wars opening crawl.
