Serial Fan Posts: 972 4-Mar-09 08:16 Thunder Rider	Tags : None In my own opinion, it has been an outright disgrace that Paramount, which seems that apparently have had no interest in exploiting the Republic Pictures catalog, is in control of the Republic library instead of some other studio like Warners, who not only appreciate the classics but has put out a gigantic amount of titles out on DVD and it seems like they are continuing the tradition. I was just thinking of what Warners would have released on DVD if they had control of the Republic library. DARN, DARN, DARN !

Warners are still falling short when it comes to releasing "library" B&W titles - not alot of RKO or Monogram Films have been released by Warners (which they control along with MGM's titles). As for the others - Universal hasn't done much beyond the Horror and Abbot & Costello films (Although a box of pre-code Paramount Titles will be coming out - Universal controls the pre-1950 PP Library), 20th Century Fox comes 2nd place to Warners but they are far behind them,and Columbia/Sony is the worse of the lot. (Heck, how come we haven't we seen a Jack Lemmon box yet! It's a no brainer! ) Good luck holding out for anything from United Artists or Sam Goldwin! Nothing is going to change,and it's only going to get worse - the studios already cry "poor elements" and "restoration-transfer" costs as it is and with Blu-Ray it gives them anyother excuse NOT to do anything with library product.
