The year in question, 1934, took the longest to get votes in and they were for the most part, the bare minimum. In some cases there were insufficient votes, or no candidates, for a Yak Award result. Here are the results:

Stunts - insufficient votes and therefore no Award

Support - Female - Insufficient votes with the same result as above.

Villainess - No candidates

Director: Due to the widespread voting for the different candidates in this category, for the first time the Yak Award went to a director for his body of work in this year, namely Lewis Friedlander for Tailspin Tommy, The Red Rider, and The Vanishing Shadow.

Special Effects - The Vanishing Shadow

Music - Lee Zahler for Mystery Mountain.

Screenplay - Basil Dickey, George Morgan, Het Manheim, Ella O'Neill for The Vanishing Shadow.

NEW CATEGORY: Animal - Tarzan, the Wonder Horse in Mystery Mountain

Support - Male - Frankie Darro for Burn 'Em Up Barnes [Frankie also won for The Phantom Empire in 1935]

Villain - Walter Miller in Tailspin Tommy

Heroine - Cecilia Parker for The Lost Jungle

Hero - TIE: Ken Maynard in Mystery Mountain
Bela Lugosi in Return of Chandu [Bela's first and undoubtedly only Yak as Hero; He got a Villain Yak for SOS Coast Guard (1937)]

Serial: On this occasion only an additional ballot was distributed at the beginning of SerialFest because there were inadequate votes for a particula serial and resulting for the votes cast here and the ones sent in my e-mail the result was a TIE:
Mystery Mountain (Mascot)
The Vanishing Shadow (Universal)

By way of comparison the results of the Wednesday chats had the 1934 serials (except for Pirate Treasure which has not yet been rated) in this ascending order:
Young Eagles 1.10
Tailspin Tommy 4.25
Law of the Wild 4.71
The Red Rider 5.00
The Return of Chandu 5.39
The Lost Jungle 5.60
Mystery Mountain 6.22
Burn 'Em Up Barnes 7.30
The Vanishing Shadow 7.33

After asking the question at SerialFest there was a desire expressed to continue the Yak Awards and the next one will be for the year 1948. Watch for it!
